Ex-Subsidiary Says GM Can’t Scrap Contract Over Asbestos Claims

General Motors is seeking to terminate a 15-year-old contract in an effort to avoid paying legal costs related to asbestos claims, a former subsidiary of the auto maker said.

Remy International Inc., formerly the auto maker’s Delco Remy parts division, said in court documents that GM’s Chapter 11 estate should not be able to use the bankruptcy court to unwind the deal that spun out the subsidiary.
